BBC Radio 4 News programme on the Centenary of the Representation of the People Act, 1918, presented by Ritula Shah and Karen Heeland, focus on Countess Markievicz, born Constance Georgine Gore-Booth of Lissadell, Sligo, Ireland. The music in the programme is the lovely poem by William Butler Yeats “Down by the Salley Gardens”, sung by Andreas Scholl. Yeat’s eulogy to the two Gore-Booth sisters “In Memory of Eva Gore-Booth and Countess Markiewicz” is read by actor David Charles.  Thank you Ritula, Karen, David, Andreas for this magnificent tribute.
